2024年9月4日 — Giant panda, bear with striking black-and-white coloration inhabiting bamboo forests in the mountains of central China.

Pandas live mainly in temperate forests high in the mountains of southwest China, where they subsist almost entirely on bamboo.

The species is now restricted to around 20 isolated patches of bamboo forest in six mountain ranges in China's Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces.

Habitat loss and fragmentation remain the gravest threats to the survival of the species. A large proportion of the panda's habitat has already been lost.
